As the founder of allover, our outdoor overalls biz, I recently embarked on an incredible trip that took me halfway across the world to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. My mission? To meet with our factory owners, tour the facility, develop new samples, and bring them back to the U.S. for our first photoshoot.
Partnering with a Vietnamese Factory
Vietnam has emerged as a hub for manufacturing, offering a perfect blend of quality craftsmanship and cost-effectiveness. I chose our factory in Vietnam because they were not only willing to work with our small minimum order quantity (MOQ), but also provided exceptional quality at a competitive price point. This partnership allows allover to offer our overalls at a price that resonates with our customers while maintaining the highest standards of durability and functionality. It was a family-owned factory that was very clean and organized with ethical work conditions.
Crafting the Perfect Outdoor Companion
In Ho Chi Minh City, we meticulously honed our overalls, focusing on functionality and comfort. Through several days of sample iterations, we adjusted men's waist sizes and inseams, ensuring an ideal fit. From reinforced stitching to durable materials, every detail was scrutinized for maximum utility without compromising style.
Exploring Vietnamese Culture
Beyond the factory walls, I had the opportunity to explore the vibrant culture of southern Vietnam. The Mekong Delta, in particular, left a lasting impression with its lush greenery, warm hospitality, fascinating floating markets, and simpler way of life. It was a reminder of how diverse humanity is, illustrating how people lead distinctly different lives in various parts of the world.
From Factory Floor to Photoshoot
After finalizing the samples, I packed them up and headed back to Colorado, eager to showcase allover's latest creations. I rented a studio space and asked a few friends to be my models. Our first photoshoot captured the essence of our brand – versatile, functional, and stylish overalls that are ready for any adventure, from rugged trails to casual outings with friends.
